Regional Expertise Centres for Special Educational Needs 2

Five years ago, School Lyndensteyn (Beetsterzwaag, The Netherlands) initiated – as coordinator – a Comenius School Project for other similar European special schools.
Considering the objectives of this project, all 5 special schools involved in the partnership aimed to become Regional Expertise Centres for Special Educational Needs.
Scoala Speciala "Transilvania" (Baciu, Romania) joined them in the second year of the project. This was a great opportunity for the Romanian school as a new-comer,  and it mainly consisted in valuable contacts and experience exchange in the European special education field.
As RECSPEN Comenius School Project ended, School Lyndensteyn and Scoala Speciala "Transilvania" agreed to continue the partnership, in order to fulfill their common mission. Their new project needed to be a Comenius School Development Project, named RECSPEN 2. The Kingfisher Community Special School (Oldham, U.K.), awarded for quality management, was willing to cooperate, as the third partner.
All three special schools are dealing with a range of learning difficulties that go from severe to complex.
The overall goals and the focus points for partnerships were set up. RECSPEN 2 was ready to be developed and unfolded so as to become a real support in dealing with special educational needs children, aiming to reach a model of excellence in special education.
It turned out to be the best choice they could ever make!
